Perfect Pub, super sympathic Lee, perfect Oysters & Beer 😋😎🤘
Friendly, fun local bar.
Very friendly place awesome bartender and patrons
Good food and a quick in and out evening
Place is not glamorous but it is real. People are great!
Great food in a local bar setting. The location is right on the harbour and is very price point. We met the owner and staff and were all very friendly.
MorePretty good service and great time
The food was fantastic and the service
Great food friendly waitress
The food can be good occasionally, however it is incredibly inconsistent. I've ordered a cheese pizza 3 seperate times and gotten something totally different each time. The food is overpriced, the atmosphere is okay however. I have never tried their drinks so I can't say anything there.
MoreWhat a fun and casual atmosphere! The chowdah was the best that we have ever had, hands down! Whole belly clams were delicious as well! Our bartender, Lee was very pleasant and thoughtful, and quick with a drink.
MoreVery small, blue-collar pub. I liked that it sits directly on the warf. I ordered the clams based on reviews I've read and I wasn't impressed. The breading was greasy and the clams needed additional filtering. They were loaded with sand. If you've never had full- bellied clams before, you'll want to be aware that these are different than the clam strips you're used to. They have a part that is mushy, aromatic in flavor, and typically include some sand. The clams are also served with tarter sauce and not cocktail sauce. The bartender was friendly and so were the "regulars". It's a unique experience, but the quality of the food wasn't up to par for me to return.
MorePretty cool home in the wall dive bar good selection of beer and food also awesome live music that is kickin it old school.
MoreDelicious burgers, a great meal with an attentive server and fun music by the DJ Christine!
MoreFriendly people, good food, casual atmosphere.
My favorite place to eat when I'm in town! Fresh, flavorful and fast!
Great peeps, down home vibes
Hell of a location. Cool little dive. The prices are expensive, but this is a prime example of an authentic Plymouth bar on the waterfront.
MoreGet the lobster roll with butter instead of mayo. Great value - great view.
Do not go here !!! If you want a waitress to run you off after an hour saying you need to eat and leave in the next 30 minutes even when the place is empty at 6 pm. One waitress is really lets say hateful for lack of a better pg word I really like the place but the owner really needs to screen his staffing if he wants consistent business. This would be a great place for a resturaunt and bar if someone would actually make the staffing effort. Why are you letting this person run your business away . I have had several times this person has been really rude to me and I have been a loyal customer . I even contributed a bunch to your food and toy drive. Why are you letting this person treat customers like this ? I really used to enjoy this little pub. Pandemic or not you don't treat loyal customers this way! You have alot of bad reviews and my money says she is the cause of most of them.
MoreWas interesting, I am thinking I had to high of an expectation on the calm chowder. Do not get me wrong, it was close to great. The Shallops were done perfectly though and our waitress was informative, helpful and cheerful which is always a plus.
MoreFun intimate place great beer and lobster rolls. Staff was excellent.
Had a blast there.. just a fun place. Didn't eat.. just had cocktails was so much fun. Definitely a local place. Looking forward to next time im in town.
MoreFriendly service. Our party ordered the Cape Cod Stuffie, clam chowder, fish&chips, shrimp cocktail, and burgers. Everything was very good. Rustic and casual pub atmosphere.
MoreLittle gem....amazing lobster roll...Fun atmosphere... casual and easy.
Good pizza. Friendly staff, nice view of the water.
Great place.. Friendly staff beautiful view
Sumptuous lobster roll with perfect coleslaw.
I came here with my 3 little girls and stayed for 20 minutes. No one brought us menus. No one asked us if we wanted drinks. It's during the waterfront festival but it wasn't half as busy as surrounding restaurants. We were barely acknowledged. So, we took our $ to Wood's Seafood. Too bad I couldn't choose no stars.
MoreMy boyfriend and I came here earlier today. Great little spot with excellent fish and chips ! Quick service with a smile.
MoreBest off season
Excellent little hole in the wall bar with awesome food.
Great food. Great service. Great views. Great Pokemon.
Dive bar with a view. Friendly staff and great drink prices.
Not very clean, no seating other then 2 tables. Sitting at the bar looking into 2 bathrooms , and looking at the toilets. Omg !
MoreIt takes ALOT for me to give a bad review, but I would give this place a zero if I could. We were pleasantly greeted by the bartender when we walked in and that was the end of the service we received. We were the ONLY table in the bar area and there was one guy at the bar. The dining room had one party as did the patio. This should have been a clue on a busy Sunday afternoon. The bartender did ask what we wanted to drink from behind the bar and filled out request for soda's. We waited 25 minutes (remember the ONLY ones in the dining room) they never said we're sorry we'll be with you shortly, no one ever came to the table... Nothing. After 25 minutes we got up and left. There are plenty of fine establishments in the area to spend your money, don't bother wasting precious vacation time here.
MoreA lot of craft beers and good seafood. If you want something local, this is the place to go.
MoreGreat homey bar! We we're visiting from MI. Our server was wonderful! Offered a great selection of beers. Food was the best seafood I've had in a LONG time! If I'm coming to Massachusetts again definitely coming back!
MoreThis spot is worth a visit. They serve large portions for reasonable prices. Consistently well organized and with fantastic ambience. I highly recommend this place.
MoreStopped to eat here and have a drink, food came out quickly atmosphere seemed to be 50% locals. Cost of a Long Island tea 5 ounces 12 dollars kinda ridiculous but it is on the water. I say two stars because beginning of eating was asked to stop and pay , silverware was a basket of plastic ware unwrapped , seemed like employees ran around unsure where things were, sanitary wise it does not appear the inside of this building where people eat or behind the bar is properly cleaned rather appears to be as if it’s been there awhile and whoever the owner is has just given up on appearance and cleanliness, probably shouldn’t have regulars blocking the door in and out either. Only reason two stars food was quick other wise I will not return.
MoreThe tiny Shanty Rose Pub stands tall when compared to bigger, more well-known Plymouth, Mass., restaurants. Unassuming and void of tourist hype, this plain-looking townie bar and restaurant might not have movie star looks but ultimately delivers on its food selections like New England clam chowder, lobster dinners, lobster rolls, steamers, and whole bellied fried clams, Additionally, the owner and staff seem very friendly and accessible -- not always the case with other higher profile Plymouth restaurants where you might get excellent food but feel no connection to the place. Plus, the friendly hometown vibe makes it a great place to enjoy a beer or other adult beverage. Additionally, the location can't be beat, just a stone's throw away the scenic Plymouth Harbor. The Shanty Rose Pub really proves that sometimes the greatest things in life some in small packages. We would definitely come back!
MoreA nice little place to go for a drink or two and it is right on the water! Great views, fun crowd.
MoreI’m giving this place a 5 star because they try hard even when it’s busy. It was moderately busy when we were there and the staff was swamped. They put effort in treating everyone fair, well, and special. We got our orders and it was exactly what we wanted. We came on 7/7/19. There was heavy traffic because it was a holiday weekend and beautiful weather. Great job to a short staffed team. Atmosphere is great! Cozy, comfortable, divy harbor/port/marina bar. Decorated as such and very laid back. The bacon wrapped scallops were pretty good but my favorite was the $1 oysters. Keep in mind, you’re not getting Martha’s Vineyard oysters, but for $1 they were delicious and went down quick! This will be my go-to spot if we go back to Plymouth. Everyone is going to one of the bigger restaurants for fancy harbor food. Skip the lines! Skip the wait! Go here for a more intimate, casual, and fun experience.
MoreAWESOME! GOOD FOOD, GOOD DRINKS, GOOD SERVICE, MOST OF ALL GREAT PEOPLE!!! MUAH SHANTY ♡
MoreNice little bar good live music
Lee our bartender made our first visit the very best. She made me a drink that was absolutely yummy. We hope to visit sometime again in the future.
MoreFun! Delicious Food! COLD Beer and Wonderful people! GREAT VIEWS
Very friendly bartender, helpful and let me taste a bottled beer before buying which was a first for me. I bought it, it was good. Picked a few places around town that he suggested we visit which was helpful. The food was okay but nothing special, they were also out of the famous Lobster Roll which was a let down. The selection of beers were lacking for a Pub which really is the reason for not having 5 stars.
MoreDo yourself a favor and go here, the people are very friendly, and the food is good. Excellent view of the harbor.
MoreThe Shanty Rose is the definition of a "hole in the wall." What was once a shack for fishermen to store their gear is now a great place to grab a few drinks with your friends. The regulars are wicked friendly and the service is even more so. Go here if you're trying to get away from the tourists.
